Cavalier/ Sunfire has the WORST crash rating of any car ever crash-tested. Enough said.
On the other hand, a customer of mine had a head-on collision in her Focus the other day. She hit a SUBURBAN. The Focus is totaled, and all she has a bruise from the seat belt. Now THAT'S a well-built small car!

I assume your friend has driven other cars in this class. If he/she hasn't I encourage them to test drive as many as it takes to change his or her mind. That GM car is a one way ticket to 1. The Junk Yard 2. The Emergency Ward. My new Focus XE comes in January and I'm sure it will be a more capable car. My wifes Altima 3.5 SE is an outstanding car. None of North Americas manufacturers are able or willing to produce cars of this quality at populace affordable pricing, for whatever reason it seems they have given up the race and are satisfied to make grocery carts for the masses
