key will not turn
I have a 2000 eddie bauer explorer. Today, when I put the key into the ignition, the key will not turn at all. Won't even budge. Not even to accessory. It is almost like it is the wrong key. That is not possible. I have tried rocking the wheel, jiggling, etcetera, while trying to turn the key. All to no avail. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

that happened with my mom's 94 X. I dont know if this will help but this is what i did. First try getting a pencil and rub the key with the graphite. It will help it slide better and possibly do the trick. Secondly put the key in and kick it a slap straight on. it could be one of the lifters (dont know the technical term) just isnt lifting. A good blunt hit while the key is in the ignition might help. those are some really simple ideas but i hope they help. let us know.

Jayhawk thanks for the reply,I asked my neighbor who is a class a ford mech. about it. he looked at it,tried everything I tried and also a lock picking tool. he concluded we would have to drill a hole right through the keyslot to get it to the run position, so we could remove itand change it he is bringing one home from work today said it should be about 20 bucks. but it seems you were right it was stuck tumblers he says ford has abig prob. with this on the focus
