Anyone got any ideas about the most reliable & cost wise (cheap) ways to got about checking codes on both my ol' trucks? I'm from the "old school" when it comes to computer aided cars & trucks, so 1995 down is all i need to check now. I figure I can do it myself and save the $50.00 they want just to check codes around this area in a shop.
I've seen items like Sunpro code testers on the low end price scale. My question is are they reliable or worth the money or even work?
I dont really have that option, I worked for 2 of the 3 auto parts stores in our area and trust me if you knew what I knew about the way things are done you would'nt take your truck there either ...lol I trust 1 person out of 3 stores but he just retired last week. Any other ideas guys? Sunpro? or?
If you need a basic code reader, brand isn't terribly important so long as you have a good book for looking up the numbers you get. Why can't you trust them to plug in a code reader? You can't mess that up.
$119 - remember, with scan tools you get what you pay for. Some just give numbers (not live data). Others, such as the Diablo Hellion, are incredibly feature rich.
