Brake pull problems have plagued my truck since I got it. I have posted a couple of feedbacks and posts. At first the truck pulled to the left, I changed both calipers with no success, blead the brakes with a full can of fluid. Still no success. The only thing I haden't done is swapped the brake pads. I will do that and see if the pull swaps. Well, the procrastinator that I am I never got around to swapping the brake pads. Just about 2 weeks ago the truck started pulling very hard to the RIGHT during brake application -- the harder you depress the brake the more it pulls to the right. I will try swapping the brake pads and see if the pull follows the pads. What is bazzar to me is the pull changed from Left to Right overnight if you will. I would like to put a set of ART rotors on it but I don't want to spend the money if it isn't going to help my situation.
Thoughts from anyone would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for all your help.
It has rained here but at the time of the transfer of the pulling form left to right, I don't remember any rain, but that was about a month ago, so I can't be certain.
I don't have stock tires, I bought the truck with the lift and tires on it. Otherwise I would put the stock tires back on the truck and see if that makes a difference
I don't see any binding in the wiring, brake hoses, or Hub engaugement hoses, they are all three run down to the spindle together.
What still boggles my mind, is that the pull transfered from the left to the right side, seemingly overnight.
I do remember a time when I would step on the brakes between the pulling, that it wouldn't pull. But that was short lived.
The pulling doesn't seem to change with temperature.
it does pull my steering wheel hard to the right when this happens.
Just a thought, what would happen if I pulled the fuse to the ABS module, yes the light would come on, but for troubleshooting purposes, I wonder what that will do?
The truck was pulling right, I swapped the front brake pads and, after the swap the truck pulled left. Time for new brake pads. Put new semi-metalic pads on, kept the same rotors (they didn't look bad or worn at all, after my first test drive No More Pull!! Shortly after that I noticed a grinding on the left front rotor. I am done with the stock equipment. I am now going to order a set of ART or Performance Friction Rotors and pads, does anyone have any feedback on the two, or a compareson. What about Stillen or Brembo or Wilwood? I bet they are pretty proud of those.
Sometimes water gets in your guide pin boots, and if you live in a snowy climate, salt and the pressence of water will cause your pins to rust at a faster rate. When you change your brakes remove pins and grease them. If they are rusty and fused to the caliper they will cause a pull with a vibration. Use alot of heat to remove the troubled pin and refurbish with wet sandpaper and oil.
This may not be your problem, but it was once mine.
Could it be something as simple as uneven tire pressure in the tires? I know it may sound silly at this juncture, but sometimes we overlook the obvious.
