Traction Bars?
woo.. i can help here-A few months ago i asked pretty much the same question - only i am making them myself. I have had one finished for about two months, and havnt really had time to finish them up.. but that is in the plans for x-mas. After i am finished with both of them i think i will be getting them chromed, just depending on the cost of that. (i fear painting them for chipping reasons, and powdercoating doesn't really appeal to me.
The one thing i found, after lots of searching for traction bars, is to make sure the ones you get have good ends. Often i found that the cheaper bars have regualr spring bushings on both ends. This is what i originally planned on making, however after some more research and some common sense this is not the desirable setup. I instead am using 3/4" heim joints up front , and some 1.5" X 2" spring bushings in the back. Using the heims up front will allow the joints to last longer when the axle twists (just one tire on a bump for example).
Just remember you get what you pay for. And aim for 5-6 feet in length.
good luck
also you might want to consider ceramic coating them like jet hot. it will last longer and is cheaper than chrome.

The heim joints i got from poison spyder customs. They were the s/4" thread design with a 5/8" bolt hole. They cost around thirty bucks a pop. Worth it in my opinion. They also have inserts to thread them in to the pipe. good luck
