Front end not locking
The truck is a 1985 F250 6.9 diesel 4X4. (manual locking hubs, Dana 50)I took it in to have a U-joint replaced on the left front axle, it was getting pretty sloppy. Before I had that done the front end locked in and out just fine. Now we have a little snow on the ground, and I've got mini vans climbing hills around me. THAT's
Embarrasing! Anyway I'm taking it back into the shop tomorrow.
Question: Is it true that if one axle is not locking in, that it would cause neither to work?
I'm hoping nothing major here. But I noticed while in 4 high, the drive shaft to the front axle is turning, the rear wheels are spinning too because I'm stuck, waving to grandma as she drives her VW around me
! But the front axles are not turning.Does this sound major, or simple?
Thanks

They just replaced the left side. I found out today that the lock-out on the right side needs replaced. He showed me while it was apart that the coil spring had worn so much that part of it had broke off inside.
Then come to find out, you can't just buy the coil spring, you have to buy the whole lock-out assembly.
Anybody no where I can just get the coil spring?
