2.9 problems

2.9 lita ford engine. when driving the engine would chug and buck constantly and continued to get worse. the prob seems to clear up when you floor the gas. originaly got a ing pu code and replaced the dist. the car was fine for a couple of weeks and the same thing started again but now usely between 45-55 mph.
also noticed that the lower radiator hose was clapsed when i got home i thought this was from flooring the pedal to keep the car going.also were is the crank senser on this engine. thanks"

you could have air in the cooling system or somthing is cloging. you should check the ignition for the chugging and bucking check for shorts etc, and also chec vacuum lines. i cant remember where the crank sensor is, get a chilton or haynes manuel its your best bet.

Same Problem

I rebuilt my Engine in my 88' Ranger and When i did it I put the wiring harness under the heater core hoses which forced the harness to the exhaust manifold. They shorted and fried two sensors Thottle Plate and O2, There was also a chance that my EEC was toast too but I haven't got that far yet. when I do I'll let you know. So check those two sensors. If your check engine light comes on after a couple of minutes of driving and always when you let the gas off it's your O2, when it comes on just quickly shut the truck off while driving and back on the light will go out and that's for sure O2 Hope this helps
