thanks for the help and idea
if you are really gonna use it and want it to be as strong as possible you need to put all of the stress in line with the frame. putting it up in the grill is just asking for a bent bumper...although I think it would look pretty 'tricked out'
no its not a PTO driven one realy its elec 3 gear reduction but it looks like it could be converted to PTO dont think i would like a PTO driven winch. cuz the one time i would need it would be the one time my truck wont start.
i didnt think about the stress factor but with the bumper i plan on building i dont think it wiuld be a big problem but im rethinking my plan now thanks dude. i like the looks of the high mount too and want it set back cuz i dont want it sticking out 2 feet.
no prob man....another thing i was thinking about this morning is if you put in front of your grill you might have cooling issues with it being in front of your radiator!
That's what I tried to do with mine, I used a flat 3/8" plate on the bottom of the winch, that connects to two vertical plates that tie directly into the mainframe. The winch line-pull is on the bottom, close to the plate- so the winch pulls in-tension with the frame rails. Make sure you use some good 5/8" grade 8 Bolts and nuts. I also welded the nut to the bolt on the ends to prevent sombody stealing the whole set-up.

Fishmann,
Click on my galley under the pic of my truck- there are a couple of pics of my front bumper and an AutoCAD solid model I used to make the bumper.
That lime green monster is awesome! That is exactly the truck I was looking to buy, but, could not find so I settled for a F-100 instead. Just awesome!
it will fit in the frame no problem but give more detail on the side plate idea.
fishmanndotcom i dont think cooling would be that big of adeal im putting a bigger rad in it cuz bigger is always better right
