I have a dilemna that I need help with. My 99 F250 crew cab won't fit in our garage. I can't modify the garage as per my plumber so I have to modify my truck. If I yank the rear bumper I can get it in there. I want to put a roll pan in place of the bumper and put a hitch on that doesn't stick out past the tailgate. Anybody have any info on this or know where I can get some good info? I know Lund makes the roll pan but I thought I would see if anybody knows of hitch that will fit.
I know alot of you guys leave the truck outside, but I live on an island in the Gulf of Mexico and if I leave the truck outside all the time, it would be a screamin' pile of rust.
Welcome to FTE, and howdy to a fellow Corpus Christian!
I've got an idea, but I don't know if it will fly with you. Have a flip down rear license plate, with the hitch, hidden behind it. I saw this on the tv show Trucks, on Project Copperhead (I think it was Copperhead..) Might want to call Shaffers Muffler here in Corpus to see if they can modify a hitch like that. Heck, even try U-Haul! U-Haul made a custom hitch for a friend of mine on his Mustang. You can't even tell he has a hitch without looking behind the bumper.
If not...then have you looked at Hidden Hitch? They may have something for you.
Thanks for the info fellas. I'll give Shaffers a call and see what they say. That is what I would like, the fold down license plate with the hitch tucked in there. I have seen it in the truckin' mags, but I'm having no luck finding anything on line about the hitch. The roll pan won't be a big deal, but I need the hitch to haul the dirt bike trailer...
