im stripping my 78 f150 to make my 91 f150 4x4. i read a lot of post and know all the big stuff to take off, looking for what little stuff to take, you know the stuff that you had to go back the the j-yard to get cuz you forgot to take it off the first time i have the whole truck i drove it into my garage
the truck will be for sale for parts or for the whole thing
is your 91 currently 4x4? if not you neet the transfer case and driveshafts as well as ALL the suspension bracktes holding the front axle on (i.e. track bar, radius arms). Get the steering linkage, pitman arm (you may or may not need this, I was able to keep my stock pitman arm), radius arms, brake calipers, track bar, and of course the axle itself.
If your truck is currently 4x4, when you do the swap, kep the yoke that is on your current front axle. This will bolt right up to the new (old) axle in place of the 78 yoke to make sure you don't need to change driveshat joint types. My front was from a 72, so I needed to do this, not sure about the 78 yokes. Your current upper coil buckets will work perfectly with the 78 coils, just make sure you do at least 4" of lift to clear the engine crossmember ( I did 6" and still removed a portion of the crossmember for added clearance.
If you get stuck or lost, just ask questions along the way.
