over head console wiring color code

over head console wiring color code

I want have a F150 2000 with the over head console with temp & comp. I want to tap into the 12 volts and ground for my radar detector. what is the color code for the 12 volts and ground up there. Also is you know how the console is removed. Thank you

What is up there in the console? I see you listed a temp guage. Well, guage power won't work, and the ilumination power won't work. What else is up there? I don't think the dome light circuit is going to work either.

The only thing up there is the temp and compass

Well, looks like you will have to run a fused wire from the fuse box up through the pillar into the roof and console. Might as well run a heavy one in case you want to put a DVD player or something like that in later on.

I forget the color code, but you definitely can run a radar detector off the power supply to the compass/temp in the overhead console. I also run an auto dimming mirror off it. I don't usually like to add load to an existing circuit, but both of these take very little amperage, and the circuit was fused for more than everything together.

The ground is usually black. Make a test lamp from a fuse holder with 5 A fuse and bulb if you can't locate an electrical manual.
