I have just sold my F-150:-( to a friend:-) , yes I am that confident in its condition. But the other day a vacuum line going to the PCV valve cracked at the elbow going into the manifold. CHECK ENGINE light came on for the first time since I've owned it....typical, just when it is going to the new owner. Anyway, I replaced it with a new piece, but the CE light is still on. Is there an easy way to clear the code? I am sure that is the only problem with the truck.
BTW, will my 7.3 microtuner work on this engine/year? Superchip states that it will work on all OBDII processors, but I don't really want to plug my SCMT into it....just paranoid I might screw something up.....for the diesel, that is. The truck is the '97 F-150/5.4.
Any help would surely be appreciated, as the new owner keeps asking me if I can do it for him today....
I'll try that, YETI. The other day I disconnected it for about 10 minutes and it did not clear. Maybe I need to let it sit a little longer. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Since I don't own the truck anymore, I hate to have to take it to the Ford store just to have the code cleared.
It is probable you will have to go to your dealer and have the code cleared. It doesn't cost a lot- NGS test at the dealership where I work is about $39.99.
I used my SCMT to clear the codes on the 5.4. It works on all Ford vehicles with OBDII microprocessors. Just go to the diagnostic mode and it will display the codes and let you clear them. Go back to tunng mode and you are good to go programming the PSD....or V-8's and 10's.
