1998 Explorer Sport
Sorry guys, I am new to this. I am looking at buying a 1998 Explorer Sport 2 Door with 5 Speed, 2 wheel drive truck. I have two questions.
First, what are the inherent problems with the explorer sport that I should be looking for in this one?
Second, is it at all possible to add 4 wheel drive to this truck, if so, what would be involved and how much is it likely to cost?
I know the second question is possibly a stupid one, but if you have any info about this I'd really appreciate it!

There shouldn't be too many inherent problems with the vehicle since it is 2wd and not an automatic, especially if it has the 4.0 OHV engine. The 4.0 SOHC had some cam chain tensioner problems. It is rarely cost effective to convert a vehicle from 2wd to 4wd. It would make more sense (and be cheaper) to just buy one in the first place.
