Congrats on the new truck. It shouldn't sway while not towing, BTW. Also, remember that 4wd will not stop any quicker than 2wd so just because you can do 75 on a snowy road doesn't mean it's safe. Just a word to the wise.
How fast can you drive in 4 hi? I thought you had to drive slow. Also my dealer told me never to use 4 low. When would I use it if any?
Now my hopefully little love storey with my 2000 X.
I love cars a lot. I've had a lot of cars. I've had old muscle car when I was younger, had later model BMW, had a 2000 C class Kompressor Benz, had a 98 Eldorado, had Hondas, Toyotas and so on. I now have the 2000 X, and Ford Ranger, a 95 Vette, and an 83 restored Rabbit convertible. No I'm not rich or trying to show off AT ALL. I got a great deal on the X and vette. I would not drive anything else but my X. I (believe it or not) would rather drive it then the vette. I live in the city near Boston and with the last 2 storms I was so happy because i never had to worry about parking or getting stuck. This is my first 4 wheel drive truck as well. I try not to go to fast because here in Ma. Too many people lose control of there vehicle in the snow and most are 4 wheel drivers who think they will never lose control or whatever in the snow.
My only issue is the stares I get when driving it. Some yell that it's too big and give me a dirty look. The other day I was driving slowly down a side street and I had the window down. This lady looks over to her friend and says “what the heck is that thing". I was laughing my butt off.
I will say before I purchased my X I found this forum and got all the info I needed. Thank you sooo much for all the useful info you provided me before and after my purchase. I felt so much better about making the decision to buy it after reading all the info. Now what would I drive after having this since they say they would be making them anymore. Thanks again.
I hear ya. Sometimes I look down and see that I'm going to fast too. I went with a Flowmaster 40 LIKE. It's a company out of PA. that makes them. I'm not sure it sounds the same as a real Flowmaster 40. I had then replace the muffler with mine and after that they went back with 2 in pipes with nice tips on each side behind the tires. It sounds ok but I might change the muffler with a real flowmaster soon. I want to get a K&M for mine as well. There's a K&M systen that includes the intake. Maybe someone else can educate us on what it is as this forum always does.
Thanks for the help people.
Good luck with your X VI66
Although I LOVED the extra 20 or 30 HP the K&N FIPK kit gave my 100K mile Jeep 5.9 limited... and feel more air into the turbo 6.0L would do even MORE for it...
I'd shy away from it for your diesel Ex...
the consensus on this and other forums is that the K&N allows too much "dust" to pass thru with all that extra air it allows thru ...
and Ford has been known to deny warranty for 'dusted' turbos...

pulling your leg about what ???
the xtra hp for the fipk ?
that's a documented hp increase -
seat of the pants, I actually think it was more than that !!!
Monsta, you've seen my post for a while -
I tend NOT to stretch the truth...
After 100K miles I sorta know how a vehicle performs and when I ran out of my 100k warranty I added the FIPK and I promise it made it a new truck AND the mpg went up about 2-3 when I wasn't enjpying the new performance !
When I sold the Jeep to get the Ex, I pulled the FIPK - it's in my garage !!!
