I have a F35/390/4speed4v, and I have a chance to buy a 4v holly from a a 460 truck . My question is , will it bolt on or are the bolt paterns different Im asking because I will have to have it mailed to me so I wont be able to try it and then buy it. And I wont be able to send it back for a refund. Thanks Bob
yeah i believe the bolt patterns are the same i dont believe there was any change, i got my 750 holley from a 427 chebby, i dont think any of them changed patterns, good luck
The 70's 460's came with spread bore carbs. The Holley spread bore is a direct replacement for these motors. The Holleys from the 80-90's 460's are most likely square bores and will interchange with 390 4 bbl intakes. You can also swap between the two patterns, using an adapter. TD products makes the adapters.
I believe the only spread bore carb was installed on 429CJ and SCJ engines in pass cars in 1971/72 only. If it has a square flange it will bolt up to your manifold.
The 429 CJ's came with Rochester Q-jets, The SCJ's had Holley 735's or 780's if I remember correctly. The SCJ intake was also common on 70's jet boats because of the Holley square bore intake. All the std 429 ( w/4bbl) and 460's in the early to mid 70's had spread bore carbs.
