K & N filter
I bought my 97 expy (5.4) with a K & N filter installed, since this is my first expy i was wandering any of you guys have put one in yours and could tell a difference. also, I am thinking of puting the K & N intake on my expy....is it worth it??

Properly maintained it has the advantage of lasting longer than paper replacements and does no harm. However, the time and cost of renewing oil eats up any money savings.IF and when mine goes bad, I'll go back to Motorcraft paper just for the convenience.

K&Ns don't really do anything. Sure, they're reusable, but if replacing a $20 filter twice a year is an issue, then maybe you shouldn't have a $30,000 truck.
On top of that, the so-called gains from K&N's only occur at 5000 RPM - the rest of the time, performance and MPG is identical to the ordinary filter, except you're letting more dirt in.
