I may be picking up a 97 F250 with a 7.3 and I have been informed that some Powerstrokes have a fuel delivery problem to the #8 cyclinder. Is this a universal problem with ALL powerstrokes or do certain circumstances apply?
We might have to wait for some of the Superduty guys to respond, but I think that's one of the theories as why the SD's have a cackle problem. It shouldn't be an issue on the body style you're referring to.
That's one of the theories, evolving primarily from the operation of the returnless fuel system found on the 99+. A non-issue on a '97, and generally not much of an issue on a late model.
My 99 psd has been cackling now for 5 years and I just Ignore it . It's got 75k on the clock and there are other things(???) that could go wrong that concern me much more. One item that will need your attention, if you have a 5 speed tranny.....Is the replacement of the duel mass flywheel as there are now replacements that are much more cost effective such as the LUKE, I believe. ......s.kuteman
Hey cookie how is the new flywheel at low rpms. I've been thinking about one but the truck sees alot of low rpm off road and someone said they get alot of noise threw the tranny. Any truth to it or is it all right.
You will get some noise do to the removal of the dampening effect of the dual mass flywheel, but I feel the increased reliability will be worth it. I installed the LUK replacement on a '97 F350 4x4 service truck w/ crane for pulling waterwell pipe and have had good results with it's operation.
