Wanted to run something by you guys that has come up from time to time. Had my truck sitting over the weekend. Took her out last night while it was raining. Seemed to accelerate unevenly but I didn't pay much attention to that. The one thing I did notice is that while I was stopped at a light, there was a shudder that came every 7-10 seconds or so. Engine would be idling normally and then shudder enough to notice for about a second and then return to normal idle. Shudder came from engine compartment closer to the drivers side. This doesn't happen when conditions are dry so I am thinking that this could be related to the rain. Any ideas? I would think that the culprit would be electrical in nature, but, as some of you probably know from reading my posts, I know next to nothing about this stuff. Thanks for any help.
You might want to change your cap and rotor. I used to have a broncoII that would do that and it turned out to be a crack in the cap which let moisture in and give it fits.
Yes, you need to change youre cap and rotor, as well as wires if you can afford it. We have had this problem on our 89 Centurion since new. It actually was doing it today (freezing rain last night left a good inch on everything). We change them about once a year, and it solves it. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the responses gentlemen. I put new wires on there in Aug. but did not mess with the cap and rotor. I'll look into making that happen this weekend.
condesation has either got your wires, cap or rotor. happend to a friend of mine with a chevy. or was it just because it was a chevy. no, just condensation
