Raspy exaust
78 F150 Makes a real loud raspy sound through the exaust I think it's a leak but it happens every now and then It has a stock 351m and exaust. Anybody know what it might be?

sounds like your valve on the exhaust manifold is staying closed too long, if it is functional at all. It is a butterfly valve that is closed when it is cold and when the coil heats up it opens to pass the exhaust thru instead of holding it to help heat the engine. Just a thought. Mine leaks so it sounds more like a rattle.
