Cat Converter Question.

Does anyone know if the cat that came stock on a 79 Bronco with a 351M is a three way? I think that my be part of my problem with the emission nightmare I am going thru. Also, is there any signs that your cat could be faulty, other than a emissions test? Thanks, this site is the best.

I am not sure, not doubting your word, but I don't think a 79 came with catalytic converters.

a sure sign is a nasty rattle, especially when you bang on it. some people say it smells like rotten eggs, but mine is dead, and it doesn't smell at all. sometimes new ones stink pretty bad.

After some research and calling my tag and emissions office, they said since I have not registered it yet, I just bought the beast, I can wait until after Jan. 1 to register it. Anything 25 years or olderdo not get tested. So I have to wait a couple of weeks. Now I will just remove the cat.
