recently my driver side window has stopped going up. when i press the button for it to go up, it just kinda goes bounces and goes down. i have to physically lift the glass to get the window up. when the glass is up, it generally stays up. its starting to tick me off so i would like to know what causes it and how to fix it. any help is appreciated. thanks

Well w/o looking at it I would guesstimate that the window has come off the bar that raises and lowers it. Usually held on by a couple screws or plastic clips. I would remove the door panel, and look to see what the issue is. If you can raise/lower the window it isnt a track problem, so it has to be in the motor/lift mechanism area.
If you can be more specific on what type of vehicle it is on I can help you with instructions to door panel removal.
Take the screw out that holds the window and door lock buttons, its at the bottom i think. lift where the screw was up, the other end has a lip to hold it down. There are four or five screws holding the bottom of the door panel on. the hard part will be the window crank. I THINK its held on with a screw but it might be a ring clip (Looks like a big C) that uses a special tool to remove. Usually only costs a few dollars @ Advace or Autozone ( check their loan a Tool) There is also two screws holding the armrest in, I beleive they are on the top(where your fingers go when you pull to close door)
Start pulling from the bottom of the panel, the top half is held in with clips. Just pull, might be pretty tight depending on how many times the door panel has been removed. The Top of the panel is held in with a lip going down by the window glass. Just lift straight off once all the clips are out.
Once you get the panel off there will be some plastic behind the panel.. Remove this carefully, as it keeps moisture from your interior. and you Should be able to access the pwr window components
