I run a 195' in my 83' F250, but have you checked if your heater core is flowing? or if it is plugged?

I use a 195 in my '86. As for the heat I would check the heater core and hoses to make sure that it is getting a good flow through it. Does any heat come out at all or is it just cold air?

heat comes out bu its just warm. i know it has a 165* thermostat, put it in there in the summer when i did the waterpump and timing case. the engine never gets hot the air temp to engine temp ratio is abotu right. ill get one of those 195* t-stats this weekend.

195 is good, but make sure and spend the extra money on a fail safe thermostat. They seem to be one of the worst parts for being new and defective. I did exactly what you are doing to an 88 Daytona and the thermostat stuck closed on the first run after replacement and by the time I shut it down, both the radiator and heater core started leaking, major pain in the ****.

a thermostat can go bad and not close even new. I would replace it too.
