Howdy guys, need some help. My '65 custom cab has had no troubles until recently (of course now that it is cold) it seems I might have a circulatory problem. My heater blows only cold air-it used to be warm-and my temp gauge has moved toward the hot range. It seems that there is no water in either heater hose-they are easy to squeeze and not very warm to the touch. Is this a water pump failure or something else? Still love the truck, and everywhere I go I either get great comments or offers to buy her! Thanks for the help.
If the thermostat is stuck shut, it will still circulate water thru the heater core.
You either have an air pocket in the system, it is low on coolant, or the waterpump isn't moving enough water. I have seen the impellers start to slip on the shaft and not move much water unless you really rev them up.

If both heater hoses are cold= stuck open thermostat. Replace it and also flush the core by pushing water thru both hoses until clean water comrs thru.
Thanks for the help ya'll. I replaced the thermostat, flushed the heater core, hooked it all back up and it works just fine! Now a new problem- coolant/water dripping in around an apparent seal in the heater, which does NOT give me "that new car smell"! Should this be an easy fix? Thanks again.
Your gonna need a new heater core. If your local parts houses do not have them or cannot get them, a radiator shop should be able to repair it for you.
But before you pull it all out, check your hose connections to make sure thay are tight, you may even need to cut off the old ends to get a fresh seal.
Thanks again for all the usefull info- I repaired the heater core and put it all back together, and it works as if new! Shame on Ford, though, for that one screw that is right up next to the firewall that was a "b*%#@$" to get off! Once again, this is a great site with lots of helpful people! God bless America!
