Cool

The Brain Dead,

the white smoke is normal in cold weather. after the engine warms up it should stop, which usually takes a couple of minutes.

As Frost13 said, the white smoke is normal, and it's a result of the cranking you need to do before the truck fires. The white smoke is actually unburned fuel, which accumulates in the exhaust system, etc. To reduce the amount of time you need to spend cranking, either plug the truck in overnight, or give it more time for the glow plugs to warm things up.
On a cold morning, I'll turn the key to start the glow plugs, let them cycle for 20 seconds, then turn the key off, turn it back on, and wait for the WTS light to go out. The truck fires quicker, and produces less smoke.

I keep my truck in a heated-A/C'd barn. Never below 45*F. But my truck can sit 3-4 weeks between uses. I occasionally get a puff of white smoke on start-up.
