p.s. broncr...i'll try dropping you another e-mail tonite before i log off, and see if that gets through...i got a price on EFI manifolds for my 300, at 50 bucks for the set...are there any modifications i might hafta do in order for them to fit properly? thanks
The cam is parallel to the crank and connected by the timing gears. It opens and closes the valves, via lifters, pushrods and rocker arms.
I think I had to do a little grinding on one of the EFI flanges so it would clear the intake.
I'll check again tonight for e mail. My filter is SUPPOSED to direct stuff that's NOT in my address book directly into the trash, but it seems to be deflecting some into oblivion. Keep it short so you don't waste a lot of effort. Maybe if you post back the approximate time, I can try turning the filter off for a bit.
what exactly is the duration of a cam? i'm still fairly new to how engines work, what all the parts are, what they do, etc...what is the duration of a stock cam vs. bogn's 260* cam? i like to get as much information as i can about anything that interests me...
The duration of a cam translates to the duration (length of time) that the valves stay open. Increasing duration translates to increased power (normally at higher rpms) but usually comes with a tradeoff - decreased power at lower rpms. It depends on the other cam timing factors. Have you read the "Tech Tips 2000" articles (in the tech info section) by Ron Iskederian at www.Iskycams.com? There's also a glossary of cam & engine terms ( I checked my explanation of duration there).
My cam is a Compcams 260H cam. Its listed at 260* base to base duration (this is how long it holds your valves open for from base to base) The better specs to use are the .050 lift specs which for my cam is 212* this gives you better spec to judge what the camshaft will do with your headflow. I wish I could find the actual stock specs for our cam, I found the lift (.398) but I have no Idea what the duration is.
