Oil pressure

Oil pressure is acting wierd(best way to put it)
I have a rebuilt 351w. When i run the truck on the highway and really step on it then come to a stop while in drive, the oil pressure goes to nothing. I was scared at first, but then i noticed there was no ticking or anything. The pressure must be staying up. I replaced the sending unit, and noticed the pressure went a little higher on start up, but now it goes back to the N on Normal when it is warm. Any ideas? How hard would it be to install a new a non electrical gauge.
Thanks for your help

It's weird but not too uncommon. I had a very similar problem. Oil pressure would drop to almost nothing after running a few minutes. Bottom line...the stock oil pressure gauge sucks. I put in a mechanical one I got from Autozone for maybe $20. It's an easy fix also. Just goes right where your sending unit is. It's definitely a worthwhile modification to always know without doubt what your oil pressure is. BTW, be sure to ground the wire running to the stock gauge after installing the mechanical one so it thinks it's got normal pressure even though it isn't hooked up, otherwise it reads no psi and your check engine light will stay on.

I agree, I have a high volume oil pump and after the truck warms up it drops, but sometimes it stays just normal. Get aftermarket gauges.
