Ford Gold Remote Start Kit ??

Sorry for the double post, but I've gotten no responses in the Excursion forum, so I'll try here.

Does the Gold Remote Start kit come with the security system or does the description ( http://www.fordgenuineaccessory.com...9G364CA-96&GID= ) just mean it is compatible with the security system. My '01 Excursion XLT 4x4 has keyless entry and panic buttons on the fobs but I don't think this is the same as the security system ( http://www.fordgenuineaccessory.com...Z19A361C-6&GID= ). I wouldn't get the Gold system if I also had to buy a $90 security system to go with it (and on top of the $30 Securilock Interface Kit).

TIA,

Ed

I put the Ford Gold remote start system in my F150. It did include a very complete security system.

The Ford kits usually give a complete description of what it is. IE.. ( Keyless Entry, Keyless Entry with Security, Remote Start with Keyless Entry, Remote Start with Security System) etc.

Most of the Ford remote start systems I install are for vehicles with keyless entry system, however if you only have power door locks it can be modded with a couple relays to add Remote Keyless Entry and if you add another relay, you can have driver door priority as well. I just cant remember which kits have what, but your dealer parts department can give you all the information you want to know, what kits and what options.

The Securilok Pats interface is only necessary if your Excursion has PATS. Some do not have PATS

No it cant. The Excursion uses a separate PATS module and there is no way to hotwire it, or any PATS system. In fact it has become so dependable that some Fords are no longer equipped with steering locks.
