I have a little story for you folks. Last week I was hunting up in NY and I was on one of those seasonal back roads and I came across a chevy 20 van that had slid off the road into a ditch. There were three guys pushing on the front of it and some other guy who came along was trying to tow it out with his 80 suburban. I thought this was a great opportunity to show up a chouple of chevy's. The 'burb disconnected and I hooked up my 79 Bronco and with minimal acceleration in 4wheel, I had that huge pile of chevy crap out of the ditch. I got to feed my ego and to boot, the dude in the van handed me a twenty. I proceeded onward to my hunting destination down this old well road. I saw a set of tire tracks down the usually nasty trail, so I figured It wasn't going to be that bad. When I got to the bottom where the well was, I once again found some jackasses who got stuck in a chevy trying to turn around. This time it was my nemesis......a Blazer. These two out of state hunters got their 82 full size Blazer stuck trying back up and they backed right into a ditch that was drifted over. When I drove up to them it was a site to remember for the rest of my life. The Blazer had all it's wheels spinnin' and it wasn't even trying to move. The two chevy-lovin' morons were swearing at each other while the driver continued to burn up their tires and overheat their wimpy bowtie-wearing pile of crap. I asked them if they wanted some help and with a whole lot of hesitation and dirty looks, the driver said...arrrhhh..alright. I was there to help him and if he wanted to give me attitude, I was ready to give some back. I asked the one guy where he wanted me to hook the chain. He was still under the impression that his ride was tough so he was like....just hook it to the bumper! that custom weld will hold up. I hooked it up and attatched it to my rear hook. I knew what was going to happen and I probably could have prevented it but I didn't care. I pulled forward to get the chain tight. I leaned out the window of my Bronco and looked back for the signal. The inbred moron just yelled to me....rrrgetitottatha. With a huge smile on my face I stomped on the gas and my Bronco took off like a scared rabbit dragging the blazer behind me. I hopped out of my truck to disconnect and found half of the custom bumper from the Blazer had let loose and it was sticking straight out from the front of thier ride. With a smile on my face I unhooked both vehicles while the two guys continued to yell at eachother. As I was loading my chain up, the two cousin-marrying chevy lovers started to throw punches at each other. These inconsiderate jerks didn't even give me a thank you so I hopped in my Bronco and tore out of there throwing stones and mud all over the two guys fighting and there beloved chevy. I went on to find a different spot to hunt. I didn't get anything that day but the little excursion I took was definetly worth it.
OMG!!!! I love it! By the way...have you ever thought of writing for a living? Great descriptions! hehe I had to read it to my girlfriend. She was rolling! OK Time for mine..but this includes a Dodge.
Last March we got hit with a major snow storm. 49 inches of snow in 2 days. First, I was the only one out of my neighborhood for 3 days..was hauling people to the store for food n stuff. On the 3rd day, others started to get out that had 4x4 with some sort of clearance. I went through the streets and found an old Dodge Ram Charger with lift, attached to the front of a minivan. The van was stuck and wouldnt move either way, the Dodge, had dug himself in and was sitting on his frame. Tires a spinning and not a movin. Now to make things worse, as I pulled up, everyone heard this loud bang like a shot. He just snapped an axle. So, he is stuck, cant move and neither can the minivan. So they are attached by a tight tow strap. So I offered to help, and while I was hooking up to the front of the Dodge, I heard little snickers from Bubba and Dufus in the Dodge. The driver of the van just grinned, (Grinning explained later). I dropped my pony into 4 low and with a little gas, started up the road. The driver of the minivan told me where he lived so I continued up the road pulling both vehicals. Now to add insult to injury, as we were going up the road, out of a side street, another Bronco about the same year as mine, came whipping by towing one of the big UPS delivery trucks. Needless to say, a couple of whoops out of our windows and a thumbs up was required to each other. I got the van to the guys driveway and dropped the connection there after pushing the Dodge back a bit, then the guy in the Dodge decided to get an attitude, so I got him out of in front of the guys house, then unhooked and told him I had other things to do, an left him. Come to find out, the van owner had 3 Fords in his driveway. One was a 4x4 stock pickup but he didnt want to take a chance on getting stuck with the factory tires he had on it. Then he offered to buy my Bronco. Had to tell him no. But I did give him my number after he gave me $40 for the tow and the laugh. Told him to call anytime if he needed help again. GO BRONCO!
lol, I love this stuff, I carry chains around with me for this reason alone, go out in the snow looking for people who get stuck, $20 will get ya out and going I love my Bronco
I'm not good with the grammer, but good with pulling out chebys
Last deer season, a 80s chevy with large tires/lift was trying to pull a tree back to camp for firewood........got stuck in the middle of the trail. When they walked back to camp for help, i jumped in my 79 and they said it would take more than that........Yea right!! i pulled the chevy out first and then pulled the tree back to camp, you could here the ole bronco pulling the tree back and the campfolks yell for the bronco as the tree came to rest by the near gone fire
Felt like a skidder driver that day, man it was kool
Gotta love those 78-79 Broncos! There is just something different about them compared to the newer Broncos. But don't get me wrong, I still love all full-size Broncos. I even own a 351 92 xlt. Still nothing compares to the capabilities of the 78-79's.
