Howdy all,
I,ve got two days and about 200 miles under my belt on an '87 Clubwagon. It's a half ton for whatever that's worth.
My question is what is the difference between my van and an E150? I go into a parts store and it's seldom an option. Why is mine a 1/2 ton, (it's wheels cross over to my F150) and the one I got back doors from at the salvage yard a 3/4 ton (same year, six lug wheels).
I'm hoping one of you folks knows the differences.
Thanks all,
-John R.
clubwagon is only a cosmetic option. whether it is e150 or e250
makes no differance to the clubwagon option. the differance between e150 and e250 is in the GVWR and the suspension.
Do you have any idea how I can find out the specifics on the differences? I hate getting wrong parts, especially when it's my fault! I'm new to this van scene, but I like divin' the ole girl. I'd just like to understand where she's comin' from more in detail.
Shoot, I read motor manuals on stuff I don't own for fun. I'm sick for details. Sorry guys, I just ain't found stuff on my van.
Thanks for your help!

I believe Clubwagons came from ford as passenger vans and Econolines were cargo vans. Most conversion vans will come out as Econolines because they were originally cargo vans before conversion.
When getting parts I don't think it matters if Clubwagon or not, unless your getting interior parts. Body parts for E 150- E 350 are interchangable.
Thanks for the info. Body and mechanics are all I'm worried about. I got this van to haul kids and crap. If french fries get ground into the carpet, so be it. It seems to get around better in the snow than my F150, even with extra weight in it. I've still yet to identify the rear end. I know it isn't an 8.8". I'll have to check it out. I'm curious.
Thanks again guys,
-John R.
I'm not sure, you're probably right. I do know that it isn't an 8.8". there's no rear cover. It's all solid. From the limited amout I've read, '87 was a transition year for Ford and rear ends. My sticker on the door is faded so bad I can't read it. If it was built early in the model year production, then i'd bet dollars to doughnuts it's a 9". I've spent enough time on the other end that this and a few other things are all that's left on my mind.
Thanks for all your input.

John watch ebay for original sales literature for your year.
I think it was a seperate brochure for passenger and cargo, but I am not sure.
The dealer sales manual would have even more details but
they are pricey.
Clubwagons have windows and bench passenger seat provisons. Econoline is the same machine but with a utility/cargo interior and panels in place of several of the rear windows.
