4X4 Switch not working - resolution
Just a little FYI,
My 00 expedition 4wd switch wasn't working. The transfer case responded properly, but the switch wasn't supplying the proper signals to it. Switch tested OK. Took it to a trustworthy transmission guy this week (after slipping around in the snow last weekend!), and he found some lazy relays under the dashboard. Apparently, they come in pairs from Ford and they're getting replaced, but I'm back in business.
Who ever took a vehicle w/4wd problems to a transmission guy and walked out with only a new relay? I was gritting my teeth for the expected $2000 repair! Pleasant surprise...
Note to self - bring any transmission related problems to this guy!

My 4X4 switch became completely unresponsive one day while I was out cruising in the mountains. On a hunch, I pulled off a battery cable to reset the computer... voila! Problem solved.
