i ve got a 78 f150 that im taking all the 4x4 and puting it in my 91 f150 my ? is the 205 TC that is in the 78 will it bolt up to the the 88 f150 tranny that has the bw transfer case on it? if not where can i get the adapter to make it work in getting the trany and everything to convert my truck to a manuel for 450 is this good price
ok one more ? the 78 has the 9" rear and my 91 has the 8.8 rear do i keep the 8.8 or swap out for th 9"
The 205 SHOULD fit where the BW case came off. I would say "will", but you know as soon as that word is uttered something goes wrong. The back of the tranny and the front of the case will have the same bolt pattern and the female spline on the case is the same as the male spline out of the tranny, the only difference MIGHT be the length of the tailhousing.
Price: if $450 is good for you, then it was a good price. I bought an '80 to convert my '85 to 4x4 for $100, but it literally just happened by chance.
8.8 vs. 9: use whatever rearend has the ratio that matches your front axle. If they all match go for the 9". it's stronger, cheaper to rebuild, easier to rebuild, and it looks SOO much cooler in super gloss black and not having a rear cover
