Quick disconnects?

ok, on my f150 for the heater core, there are those stupid little plastic disconnects, the hose popped off on one and i went down and bought another, i got it back on to the heater core but i can't get the hose onto it, can't get a screwdriver in there to push the clip down so the hose will go on, and i can't push on it to try to get it to pop on. any suggestions on how i should do this? it was easy when i had the dash off when i was replacing the core but now i can't do it through the engine compartment, do they make a tool for these?

Are you using Ford original hoses again?
The quick connects just push on to the heater core by hand...or they should. There is a special tool to remove them but not to install them. The clip part stays in the hose end and you just push on it until the barb is over the raised part on the core.

If the hoses look good I would leave them. They last a long time on the newer vehicles.
