Just a FYI. Way back at May 1, I ordered a set of those new Westin side bars. They are advertised as being 6" ovals. Which is what attracted me to them. That is 1" bigger than MAAP brands at 5", which my buddy put on his Chevy.
I finally got them late in November. Got all excited, slapped them on, then started looking at them. They didn't look any bigger to me. So I measured them. They are 5" exactly. Not anything over. This was quit disappointing. The only thing bigger is the advertising.
So if you what to add anything shiny to your truck, Westin has some nice 5" side bars that they say are 6".
I did send a e-mail to Westin, asking what the deal was. I got the canned we have received your e-mail, but no actual response.

Thats a bad deal, hate when you buy something expecting one thing and you get another, its happened to all of us im sure.
One side note about Westin, near where I live there is a performance shop. The owner claims to sell only the best of parts that are made with quality and he seems to know his stuff. He will not sell Westin products to anyone as it is his opinion that they do not hold up well in the long run, sighting problems with rust and finish durability. I personally cant complain. I did buy Westin bars for my girls Cheby and at 2 years old they seem to be holding up just fine. I dunno...you decide.
I have the regular black westin running bars and they do have a garbage finish. Bought them in late 98 and I'm on my second pair, ready for the third. They start rusting in under a year. I could be on my fourth set but I'm too lazy to take them off and get new ones every year. The one good thing I can say about Westin is they stand behind their warranty. I have no problems getting new ones for nothing when they see they're rusting.
All I can say is that nothing is sacred anymore, used to be a man's word was worth something!, today too much snake oil out there, beware..all the consumer can do is bad mouth them, but then they go belly-up and start again under a new name......look hard two and three times and look again and get it in writing for a 100% return guarantee......trust only friends, but never with your wife or Superduty, (OK with chebbies or dogges)...ok let me get back to my c******nay:+
Personally, I liked the MAAP bars better. I have the polished stainless steel set. I looked at the Westins, but, didn't like the fact that they were "chromed stainless". Was afraid that the chrome finish would start peeling after a few years. Also, the MAAP set was about $50 cheaper.

Who did you contact for replacements and what info did you need? Have a set on my '00 Crew and they started rusting almost a year ago. any help would be appreciated.
I just took mine back to where I bought them. They had no problem ordering me a new set when they saw they were rusting. They did want the the original receipt though. Not sure how big of a problem they would have given me if I didn't have it.
