Howling intake
Since yesterday, I have been hearing this howling from under the hood. It has been on and off. I decided to take a look when it was doing it again this morning. I found it to be the two big holes in my air filter housing, on the fan side. (until now, I never knew they were there.) If I cover them with my hand, the howling stops. Any idea what is causing this? As I said, it isn't a constant thing, comes and goes.
The only things different are, that it snowed yesterday, it is pretty cold out (low 20s) and I used 4wd all day yesterday. It runs fine but that howl gets pretty loud at times. Thanks..

Silly question, but have you checked your air filter and the rest of the airbox for debris. If this is a new problem, might be something stuffing up the works and the two holes are making up for lost air flow.

No, I haven't. I will though. I don't see how anything could get in there though. Looks like the opening is pretty well protected. So well protected, that's probably why they have those two holes in there, to let more air in. Unless that's their idea of a cool air system
