Gauges

Wondering if anyone knows if need to run separate connection for oil pressure.

Have 65 f100, and want to install electrical oil pressure gauge while keeping the oil light, or 'idiot light'. I believe the sending units are different for gauge vs the light. Have cluster that has both, but can't find wire diagram that shows how the sending units are connected. Does anyone know if i need an adapter and install both type sending units at the block, then run wire from each to instrument cluster.

Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

thanx,
dave

You need both senders at the block. Just use a Tee fiting.

The gauge & idiot light cluster backs & Printed circuit are different.

Gauge type of 18 pin connector
Idiot light has an 14 pin connector

Really appreciate the info.

Went and bought the tee connection. Will add an additional wire in the new harness just purchased. Out of all the salvage trips
made over years, don't ever recall seeing both sensors mounted on the block. Wonder if the oil pressure light in the speedo was inable if the gauge was included in the cluster. Would not be first time missed an important feature.

Thanx again,
dave

Great, looks like have an option and can go either way. If it becomes too labor intensive simply thread the appropriate sensor into the engine block, hook-up the existing connector wire and leave well enough alone.

Appreciate the info,
dave
