figuring this out

OK so the title sucks.
I am looking at a project vehicle, problem # 1. It is in Longmont Colorado. My understanding that is a bit north of Denver. Is there anyone near there that could be a set of eyes and ears for me.
problem # 2. Getting it from there to my place in Kemptville Ontario. Any ideas on shipping companies that could do that.? This is a project car, no motor or tranny and it is in pieces. It is on wheels so it will roll but will need to be pushed onto a trailer, preferable enclosed, hate to lose parts along the way. It is a 26 hour, 2800 KM (1500 miles)trip one way for me
and problem # 3, I think I need a customs broker. Any thoughts on who to use for that

Man, that's a lot to contend with. Sure you want the vehicle that bad? Must be some rare valuable vehicle.

Suggestions. You might consider the shipping in two segments; US and Canada. Ship to the nearest economical US city (e.g., Syracuse, Watertown, Ogdensburg), then you personally go down with a trailer and bring it into Canada with the preapproved paperwork. If it fits, you could use something like a POD to ship in the US. Good luck!

Years ago I got a deal on a 53 F100 that was in pieces in the mountains near Reno NV. I found that the frame on the rolling chassis was just a few inches shorter than the floor of a 16 foot box rental truck. I rented the 16 ft truck in Reno, drove to the place where the 53 was located, loaded it all up and drove home. It was a great road trip and cost me a lot less than other options I had considered. Perhaps you could fly to the closest airport and have the seller pick you up and take you to the truck rental place.

you could look for a local car orientated facebook group and ask for help on a inspection.

BIG thing is make sure of the condition of the vehicle if you haven't already, find someone to look at it. Pictures can be dolled up to make it look really nice when it's not.

A bunch of us are on pins and needles wondering what you've found that's so cool you're willing to go to this much expense and effort. Care to share? I rarely find anything I'm willing to drive across town for, even if it's something I really like.

I've driven maybe 500 miles for a truck but then I usually have something doing in the area of the country like meeting up with a relative I haven't seen in a long time or a major attraction like a national park. I try to make it more than just getting a rusty pile of parts.

My last road trip was about a year ago, a 10 hour, 500 mile round trip to pick up a pair of gas pumps. Sold the shorter National a few weeks ago and got 90% of my money back. But now I have the Wayne 70 I always wanted.

The guy has a '54 Ford sedan delivery. Says the metal work is all done but now doesn't have the time/space to take it further. Comes with all the chrome bits as well. Looks like he changed out the front suspension as well. I have 2, '52's in my driveway that I was going to make into one car but this one is in way better shape. I have very little money into the two I have and even if I just keep the aftermarket parts I got, I'm close to even on the price point so far. For me these cars a so cool looking and very rare. I would like to make this one more of a comfy cruiser, on air ride. My truck is very aggressive. I love it buy the wife not so much and now that I am much older than when I started building my truck, I to could use something smoother once in a while. Delivery costs might put it out of reach, I'll have to see what I can find out.

Similar story on my 51 F1. Almost completely disassembled by the seller and sitting in a storage unit in Mars PA, just north of Pittsburgh. I rented a 16' box truck with a lift gate and a friend and I drove down from Buffalo NY to get it. 8 hour round trip, 2 hours to load, a dinner break and a few rest stops for fuel. Picked up the rental at 8:00 AM and parked it fully loaded at 8:00 PM. Unloaded the next day.

Good idea to fly in and drive out.

I recently used Bear Transport to ship my Camaro from Pittsburgh to western MA about 450 miles. I think it was $1300 but that was before gas went up 40%. I can't remember her name, but I can look it up if you want, but the woman who does all the coordinating is awesome. If you need a driver who can take parts as well as a non-driving truck she will find someone. I would use them again in a heart beat.

That sounds like a great project. I wish I was closer I'd love to help you with that. I have been told, I'm not sure how accurate it is, it's easier to import a car from the US to Canada than to bring a Canadian car to the states, but that using a broker is for sure helpful. There seems to be a lot more regulation doing this than there used to be. It would be interesting to know if moving parts and a basket case is harder or easier, from a legal and tax standpoint, than a whole, operational vehicle, or if it matters. Old cars have different rules than new cars, too. Odometer, safety and emission standards may or may not apply. A container of car parts may be different than a complete car. Loading it all up in a 24' moving van sounds interesting, too. I wish you all the best.
