Most of Alaska I'd say is pro ANWR. Basically Alaska doesn't make anything. So we use our resources to sell to fund the state. If you plan on living and working in this state for a long time why would you vote against mining and drilling and such. It just don't make sense. Most of the anti ANWR people are out of state tree huggers.

One more fact. Alaska has more coast line than the rest of the USA combined.

ANWR is just a ruse to keep the friends of the earth and greenpeace and god knows who else busy while the real oil is being processed west of the Colville River in the NPRA (National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska) There probably isn't any oil in ANWR but it is a good way to keep the greenies busy! BTW I am very pro ANWR, pro oil. Got to keep my Ranger running in the icy, snowy, windy, cold, dark Alaska winters. (And even sometimes summers)

2 years ago i had a roomate from alaska. the pictures he showed us of where he was from were amazing. that place really is the last frontier. he and his father would go crabbing in the bay in front of their house and catch king crabs with legs longer than mine

Here's another Alaska fact (at least right now). The weather here is warmer; less snow than New England or Minnesota, and a whole lot less people. Every time I have to leave the Great Land, all I can think about is when can I go home. This place is unbelievable! Come see for yourself.

i visited Anchorage in the summer of 2000. It was cool and i was thrown off by the sun never going down. Alaskans don't pay state taxes if i correct in fact i think they get money from oil royalities.

Yea We get a dividend every year for between $500 and $2500 dollars depending on the market.
It shouldn't last much longer though, too many people want to use it to pay for govn't so that we don't have to pay taxes. It's still a nice little boost every year.

Another Alaska fact ...learned in the lower 48's last best place ...
Don't tell everyone all the nice things or they WILL move there, build multi zillion dollar homes, finally realize they were nuts for leaving their big malls and other amenities they moved to get away from and either have them brought up there or move away and try to sell their mansion to some other unsuspecting billionaire who will then repeat the process. ( takes a breath )

My valley has been and is in a continuous state of growth. There aren't that many high paying jobs here, so people move here, wonder how it is we make a living, whine that there is no place to shop, etc and we end up with a booming population and a ton of new homes that we can't afford to buy.

Ya don't want people to move there... keep silent or tell about all the bad things you have to put up with.... I'd even go so far as to make a few things up if it would stop people from moving here.

" Oh yeah..we still fight Indians out here. Why do you ask?"

Another Alaska fact: Man is not the top of the food chain in Alaska. Choose your firearm well.

I was born in Anchorage and have been back only once. If you ever get the chance to fly up in a small plane (Cessna 180), do it. The view is awesome.

Well now, since my 71 F-100 has a pretty fresh engine I would sure love to drive up the Al-Can Highway but having to check my gun in at Canada is a major deterrent and an unacceptable deal. Still would like to go sometime, maybe after I retire and the shiftwork ends. Hope to have a newer truck by then.
