I have a ‘78 F150 with a 302 engine. The truck had factory air, but the compressor and other components are currently missing (I intend to replace all). The belts were in horrible shape, so I removed them. I’m now trying to replace them, but have gotten confused about their routing and would like to know about the routing of the belt for the someday a/c compressor.
The fan has only one “groove” for a belt. The crank has places for three. Can anyone help me out with proper routing, including the place where the compressor belt will someday go?
I appreciate any assistance you can provide.
A.S. Crankshaft pulley Water pump pulley (sitting there loose - not installed) Power steering pump and a/c compressor location
I can't speak about the AC but the water pump, the pulley on the harmonic and the alternator are all one the same belt. The power steering goes onto the harmonic by itself.

hopefully this helps!
That is EXTREMELY helpful. In which groove on the crank/harmonic balancer does the water pump/alternator belt fit? Same question about the power steering pump belt.
yes agree with 73Randy - looking from the sides, groves will naturally line up. Here's picture of our motor. The power steering belt sits in front of the alternator/harmonic/waterpump belt in our setup
[QUOTE=73Randy;21825783]Generally you can eyeball the grooves and see how they line up but here's a diagram. It's for a Mustang I believe but should be similar.
You were correct, sir! I reassembled just as shown in the diagram, and it works perfectly! Thank you!

Correct! Your picture was a great help. Thank you!
