Starter Fluid?

Can we use starter fluid on a PSD my other truck is a 96' and unless we plug her in she won't start when it gets cold. I was wondering if anyone knows a good one to use. Had a new relay and glow plugs put in a year ago anything under 25 degrees and it wont go.

The glowplugs can ignite starting fluid with explosive results, not a good idea.

You can use WD-40 instead.

A co-worker used WD-40 yesterday morning on his PSD and it fired right up. He said he used just a touch, not much.

I don't have a problem starting in Alaska at -25, just have to cycle the glow plugs a couple times to get enough heat and it if don start the first time cycle them again. 4 Diesels dating back to 89 with no problems, current a 99 PSD, sounds like you have clow plug or other problems, When I have trouble starting it is generally that, or it will start with a couple cylinders missing for a while, time to change the plugs, the newer models have not been as bad.
