Here's a cool block
NOS block. You can see the 3 cross bolts down low and the three brass screw in water jacket core plugs rather than press fit steel cups.
Also drilled for hydraulic lifters.
What do you suppose this is?

Here's the engine tag. Not the typical format with year and month of production but seems to indicate a 427 HP. The engine date code is very hard to read. The second character is an L - November and then maybe a 25? But the first character I'm not sure. Possibly an 8 but you can see it's a bit of a blob.
It came with 8 rods with C6AE-E ID on each. They have been worked on some on the sides but have 8-point cap screws and have never been installed in an engine as far as I can tell.

Wild guess...former Ford employee bought a service block decades ago and never got around to having it built?
It looks clean and well oiled. Probably worth some money to the right person.
Btw, does appear to be a side oiler and IMO it's nice to be drilled for hydraulic lifters.
