Looking to get some opinions on the splines from my steering gearbox. When I first got my 1997 F-350 it was not running, so there was no power steering. I went too hard on the wheel and stripped the splines on the steering shaft. I've ordered a new steering shaft, but I'm not sure if I need a new steering gearbox. Do you guys think the splines are too rounded to be safe and driveable, or will a new steering shaft with functional splines be adequate? Apologies in advance for the blurry photos of the steering gearbox splines. I haven't dropped the box yet and it's difficult to get a quality photo in that tight space.
Steering shaft with stripped splines. Replacing with DORMAN 425353
Heard nothing bad about either box listed, also swap that pesky high side line that will blow at random...recommend fresh return lines with an inline Magnefine filter. If giant wheels/tires, consider an additional cooler. If have JY close, go nab off something. GMT800s or 10th Gens littered with stuff. Additional cooler also adds extra capacity, not just extra cooling

Borgeson shaft alone took up HALF the slack of the stock steering system. Definitely recommend. Should do it with the box. Also was gonna snag me a blue top or send mine off to Lee power steering for a rebuild.
You need a lot of arm strength and that part would slip fast since it is worn
How much is your life worth?
At least $80, seeing as that's the rate for a new shaft and gearbox from my local junkyard. The power steering reservoir was nearly bone dry and I put my full body weight on the steering wheel trying to get the wheels to turn.

I will 100% be getting a Bogenson shaft, it's just a matter of when. The truck currently doesn't start, steer or brake, so I'm focused on getting things working first, then road worthy which will come with the shiny things like a RedHead gearbox and Borgeson steering shaft.
Thanks all for the feedback. I'll share more pics when it's done!

You will love the shaft man. About an hour install roughly. @d2freak82 has a good install thread on it.
