Starting to get things lined up in prep for getting my 79 F-150 painted. One thing I need is a black grille insert for my truck. The existing insert is black, but some mounting tabs are broken on it, so I would like to replace it. I've checked all the normal parts places (LMC, Broncos Graveyard, NPD, etc) and nobody even lists one.
The only black inserts I've ever seen were in free wheeling package vehicles and maybe Pace Trucks.
If you want black just buy insets and paint it black , the one in my free wheeling '79 was painted at the factory. it was a pretty flat black, but I would use SEM trim semi-gloss black so it's easier to get bugs off.
I like the argent grey outer ring and all black inner look also. With the matching headlight bezels. Or all black is good too. Of course the all chrome insert and black painted inner look is nice too. Along with the headlight bezels also chrome.
