Most Cat engines have a rather nice bypass piston on the engine. Your ford 6.7 uses one in the filter, last I checked
. Stick with the Ford filter.

pros are I picked up extra npt ports.
cons is the cat filter has no by pass valve
dont have any way of monitoring psi and thru put so anything else would just be theoretical.

IMHO, the juice isn't really worth the squeeze. Your picking up capacity and that is about it, the OEM filter is a tighter media and contains the bypass valve that Cat assumes you have in the head. Motorcraft, Wix, Donaldson, Baldwin, Fleetguard all make a great option for our trucks.
I have the SPE setup mainly for the extra ports and used the longer filter option......when I replace the filter im going to find a micron option that is not as tight.....dont need 5 micron on the main filter since I have 2 micron on bypass filters. I would rather have better cold weather flow.
