Anyone know where to find a ac delete pully for my/my son's 08 f250 super duty 5.4 4x4? I'm not finding any. Or maybe an easy fix for a real bad squeak. Not sure it'll last much longer. I was thinking if I can't get a delete pully he could just purchase the cheapest compressor on rock auto and just use it for a pully. $ 170 pully but atleast it won't freeze up and burn through the belt.
You can sometimes replace the idler bearing on an ac compressor that spins with the accessory drive when the AC compressor is off (or broken) by removing the clutch and pulley. I would pull it apart and try and find a bearing number before buying a cheap compressor for the pulley. I would bet its a common 5106 or 6203 bearing. I would pull it apart and try, best outcome you fix it with a $10 bearing worst case you need still need a new compressor.
If it was me and I had to buy a new compressor I would try to get the AC working and open that can of worms.
As for a delete pulley, although it looks like a different compressor I know my 1994 base mustang w/o AC came with a pulley and bracket that uses the common 3 or 4 hole mount for ford AC compressors. My 97 5.4 uses the same compressor as that generation of mustang. So there is a good chance that the delete pulley for a 1994 mustang would fit on your 5.4 block and work if the AC compressor is in the same spot on the accessory drive (mine is lower pass side of block). Might be worth a walk through a junk yard to investigate. Your millage may vary but that could be the way to get a delete pulley. Good Luck!
You should be able to purchase just the bearing from Ford and replace it. I have been able to do this several times on various different vehicles, go to the OEM and tell them what you are looking for, the parts guys (the ones who know how to do more than enter a VIN) can help you out.
