I am pulling a 5.8L and E4OD out of a F150 'Nite' SCSB. The transmission will not fit in the vehicle where the engine is going so I need to sell it. What is it worth? It works perfectly.
I was wondering the same thing myself. I can get a parts truck that had a cab fire and it has the same tranny. I just want the 5.8 motor out of it for a spare.
I do know there where some changes made the trans by ford to improve them but I can't recall what year it was, maybe 94 or 95? That could affect the price and of course mileage.
Those for 8-900 are usually rebuilt. A used E40D should prolly only fetch $250-$500 depending on miles and demand. A used 460 or 7.3L (4x4) E40d core alone will fetch $500. At least here in Michigan.
When mine crapped out a few years ago, after much shopping around, I paid $850 for a totally re-built one. Local salvage yards wanted 1200-1300 for one (not re-built) I sold mine as a re-buildable core for $150.
Price would just depend on who was buying it, how savy of a shopper they are and how bad they need it. Knowing I could get a fresh re-build for $850, I'd hate to pay much more than half that for one pulled from service. OTOH, if some guy was told $1300 by the salvage yard, $850 may seem like a bargain.
