idash problems

i purchased a brand new idash pro. had a bit of a problem when first loaded, blank readings. their support showed me where i had missed one of the start up steps. nice response.
now 4 months later i drive away with all working correctly, drive to town, shut off the truck, restart. the idash now has had a lobotomy. all programed information and settings are erased. back to blank readings and factory startup listings in the screens. sees the battery but nothing else.
i am going to contact factory support again but i thought that i would see if this was common or at least had some links. i will say that the cable to unit connection on the back of the display is rather fragile for the stiffness of the cable. obd connector is secure and no movement of either the display or adjustment of the obd connector occurred prior to the restart.
frustrating

I haven't had that issue. I have had a Data Monster for about 4.5 years now and I had some issues with it at the beginning. Often times the trans temp would read "--" and I would have to turn the iDash off and back on to get it to pick up the actual trans temp. I also had weird issues with it when the SD card filled up and it started writing over old data, but turning continuous recording off fixed that. I ended up calling Banks about the trans temp issues and they sent a replacement out, but it did the same thing.

I now also have a Data Pro and I have noticed that sometimes the trans temp doesn't always pick up on it either. I am now wondering if maybe the iDash was turning on before the trans temp information was being sent, so it would get stuck on the "--" reading. I turned the sensitivity setting down so the iDash isn't as quick to turn on, and so far I haven't had that issue any longer... but I'll see.

Since your's has reset, I would go through the set up process again, paying attention to make sure you complete all steps and in order. Usually, when it isn't reading data it is because you haven't selected the truck in the vehicle settings. Be sure to set it to Ford Global, and make sure it is set to 6.7L. Also make sure that the firmware is up to date, and be sure that the iDash is left on during the update. This means vehicle running, or keep pressing a button on the iDash so it doesn't fall asleep.

You can still reach out to Banks for support. I have found them to be helpful and accommodating when I have had to reach out, so that's good. If you do and they find an issue, let us know!
