Hi i have a 2007 F150 supercrew 5'.5" bed 5.4 flex fuel with 220K miles. I had the Transmission over hauled a year ago (1.6k miles) it has new Wheel Bearing & Hub Assemblies, Front Lower Ball Joints, Front Upper Control Arms with Ball Joints, Front Sway Bar Links, Front Outer Tie Rods, Front Inner Tie Rods, Front Shock & Spring Assemblies. I replaced my original motor about 4k miles ago with a used 08 5.4 with about 106k miles on it. Of course the timing and phasers are going out on it and was quoted $2.7K to fix it. Im thinking of swapping the motor with a crate motor and wondering if i will be fine to put a regular 5.4 in it instead of flex fuel and if so do i have to change anything major so it fits? Thanks
You won't have to change anything that I know of. Make sure when you buy your crate motor that it has the upgraded heads and timing set. 08 motors built after 10/07. You will have a great reliable truck with all that's been done.
Thanks. Do you happen to know a good place to go through for the crate motor by chance? I have looked up a few different places and half of them the reviews aren't the greatest
I put a Jasper crate 5.4 in my 2007 F-150 in 2021. The install was pretty straight forward. Everything from the factory motor transferred over without a hitch. I have added just over 60k miles to the odometer and with the usual maintenance it continues to run strong. Good luck with your project.
