Good morning, everyone! I’m new here and looking for some advice.
I have a 1997 Ford F-250 4x4 (OBS) and I’m planning to level the front about 2 inches and run larger tires. I visited ORW looking for help, but they were unable to assist and suggested new front leaf springs with an add-a-leaf.
Has anyone gone this route before?
Did it work well for you?
Any other leveling or lift suggestions for this truck?
How much bigger? Any teeth with fillings? Are they in good shape? The leaf spring TTB is already a fairly rough ride now put stiffer springs and you might be going back to the dentist.
How are the leaf and shackle bushings currently? After near 30 years they almost always need replacement, plus when dilapidated they cause front droop.
Most of the time I see folks do a D60 swap with a reverse shackle kit on trucks with the D50. One may want to consider that before the rebuild of the front with the Add A Leaf.
I used this lift on my '96 F250 and have had good luck with it. Fairly easy install and leveled the truck nicely. For me it's just right and not too high.
I did replace the pivot bushing in the Dana 50 ttb with a polyurethane bushing when I did the lift. Also did shocks. Truck was tired and needed it. Rides good now and not rough.
