I am seeing good prices out there for Moog "Problem Solver" ball joints and tie rod ends. These appear to be their American-made line of parts that some people swear are excellent quality. I also find a lot of folks warning "never buy Moog anything"! Totally confusing. Anyone have recent experience with their "Problem Solver" parts, good, bad, or otherwise?
each manufacturer has typically 3 lines of parts- economy, problem solver and professional (terminology may vary)- get the professional line & avoid thermal-plastic junk.
If you believe their literature, their "Problem Solver" parts have little enhancements over stock designs that improve their performance or longevity. The first thing I can think of off the top of my head is their "gusher bearings". They're made of powdered metal and soaked with lubricant to significantly reduce wear on pivoting ***** like ball joints or tie rods.
They can be made in various countries, include the US.
They are junk in the last 5 years. I've put 3 sets on my DD car. The ball joint rubber is paper thin and rips after a year. It got some Motorcrafts and took the trash out (Moog)
These were US made ones. If you can get them made in Vietnam, they should be ok.
The quality of US made anything seems to be junk nowadays. I go out of my way to buy other COO.
pre 2020, I'd have no problems with US made stuff. Now, they are lazy, uneducated, careless jokers for US manufacturers. No pride in workmanship. It will be years before I trust US made stuff.
