VIN decoding
I can’t seem to decode the vin on one im looking at.
F14SRY88681. 77f-150 ranger
If any ya’ll can work some magic, it would be greatly appreciated!!
F14 = '77-'79 F-150 4 wheel drive
S = 400 2bbl 6.6
R = San Jose (assembly)
Y88681 = numerical number falls in 1977
That's all you get from from the VIN or first line, the line below it has things like color codes, trans code, etc if you are looking at the metal plate on the door.
Yes it s full size Bronco, but the pic is to show the warrenty plate on the dvrs side door edge. And the 2nd line.
And the Safety Certificiation (white sticker) on the dvrs side B pillar.
So a couple weeks ago my wife showed me a tic toc clip of a girl washing her 77 f-150 xlt ranger, light jade and white. Said this is what I want. Btw she has never even talked about having an old truck.
So I did some looking around not expecting much and I may have found exactly what she’s looking for. Appears to just need a fresh paint job. Everything else looks good from what I can see in the pics. Interior is good to go, can’t tell the shape of the trim.
If this works out, she’ll have a 77 and I have my 78. Although hers will be sweeter than mine. May turn into a friendly family truck competition!
Their carpet was green, the furniture, everything was green, even his mom's Ford Country Squire station wagon.
Anew 1972 Maverick Grabber was gold. A couple of years later he bought a used brown '72 F-250.
In 1978 he traded the pickup in on a brand new 1978 F-250 4wd Explorer, yep... dark GREEN!!

Like this one. We never let him live it down. LOL
